Network Outage [DDCL, London] [RESOLVED]

July 26, 2026, 12:51 PM - Europe/London

Outage Start: 11:06 BST
Outage End: 13:04 BST

No power was lost on servers during this outage. Data is safe - this was a network outage only in our core rack.

East London suffered a power outage where our primary facility is located. This unfortunately caused a cascade of issues within our network cab.

Firstly, the AHU's which cool our suite shutdown causing overheating on some devices, the AHU's were powered back on shortly after, but one of our two core distribution switches failed and shutdown.

We then advised onsite hands to reboot the failed device, which was offline. Hands then pulled power to both devices by mistake which caused config corruption on the working device. The originally failed device never booted and is expected to be entirely failed.

We are currently restoring the configuration and bringing in a replacement device for the failed unit.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. A full RFO will be issued. Please open a ticket if you wish to one.

If you need any more information please ask, we are here to assist.

Update
We are fully back online now - we are extremely sorry for this outage. In over 10 years we have not suffered an outage in our London location and unfortunately today we have. As reported above, the issue stemmed from a East London power outage, however primarily the cause was a mistake by remote hands within the London data center removing power from a device they were not instructed to do so.

The device however should have rebooted and come back online with the original configuration, it did not. The device booted with a corrupted operating system and configuration files sitting at 0 bytes. We had to reinstall the device and pull a backup from offsite to re-load.

We are currently operating with reduced redundancy on our distribution stack pending a replacement of the failed unit. We have 2x additional devices coming onsite tomorrow evening. We will notify clients of this swap.
